It had been a while since I was close to the infrastructure and technological side of FTTH. Speaking in Lisbon at the European Summit of the FTTH Council gave me a good opportunity to catch up. Today I started a new photo project next to Dutch digital pioneers. The project will be a follow up on Paradiso stills by Marc Geerards who brought back the people in the photo book of the same title by Dutch photographer Max Natkiel. Today I handed over the Chairmanship of IPAN to Gijs Vroom at the General Assembly. Afterward we had a nice board dinner and former Chairman Boris Veldhuijzen van Zanten joined in too. Finally Sinterklaas showed up with some goodies for all IPAN member. A nice farewell and I wish the new board of Gijs, Suzan and Krijn all the luck and best for IPAN. The full set is here.

The physical stack will most likely be virtually replaced in 5-10 years by #amazonkindle style ereaders, just as itunes/ipod/digital music has replaced analog and physical records... On the other hand great tactile experiences such as a great newspaper or a magazine such as Monocle might be around longer..

Amsterdam is always full of activity. Yesterday we had a great audio and picture evening with a private tour for Foam Fund share holders with photographer Leonie Purchas and New York Times photography editor Kathy Ryan. After that a sparkling discussion with Paul van Liempt and Ruud Hendriks about the future of Public Broadcasting and the model around that.

Great initiative indeed. The Elephant parade Amsterdam. A 100 elephants on display...
