After a great honeymoon in Japan, back to work with a study trip to New York. Meeting up with very interesting media and technology companies at the forefront of the development frontiers.

Almost at the end of our honeymoon in Japan. A terrific period indeed we had. Lots of time to explore beautiful and interesting parts of the country and the people. Three things that will stick for a long time. First the public transport. Very punctual, very fast, very service oriented, very friendly staff and if there was anything wrong or had changed, good communication all the way. Secondly the quality of the food: great... thirdly amazing hospitality in big cities as well as small towns... everything is clean and of high quality and the staff always does something extra...

Service and eye for detail is exceptional in Japan. Today we visited two interesting brands: Visvim and Evisu. The latter hand paints the Evisu 'swoosh' on the special edition pants.

Visiting the amazing manga museum in Kyoto. Over 300,000 manga books in collection...Shot taken with new Ricoh GXR A12 with 50mm prime lens. Snazzy camera with cult following in Japan. With latest firmware update, this little snapper is very fast on its autofocus feet...

Nara is a perfect place for contemplation. Contemplation was welcome today, one year after the tragic passing away of Kink's messenger of music Arjen Grolleman

Very nifty system where passengers know exactly where the subway doors will stop and easy and efficient exit and entry is possible. A similar set up (even more nifty) is available for the fast trains...Why can this happen in Kyoto and not in Amsterdam? Good opportunity for knowledge transfer?

In Japan the highly advanced toilets are for me still one of the big eye openers. How did toilet systems develop so completely differently in Europe?

Service, service, service... appears to becoming natural everywhere in Japan. Here in Kyoto excellent food and very friendly staff all around....

From Tokyo to Kyoto today with the Shinkansen bullet train. Amazing journey in a great train with excellent service. Passing through a very snowy part of Japan....

Famous Great Panda zoo in Tokyo is out of Panda....Only panda dolls.....

Taking the metro in Tokyo is always special. It is very often very crowded and people seem to fall asleep more or less immediately after entering the train...I often wonder whether they wake up in time for their stop...

Most popular fashion item for men in Tokyo: the laptop bag. Next to a (black) raincoat all the salary men are sporting laptop bags....

Tokyo is great and a very nice start of our honeymoon. Still a little jet-lag, but we will get over that. lot's to discover and explore here.
