The final farewell to Eckart Wintzen took place today in Amsterdam. Many, many people like me came to say their last goodbye to this special man.....We will all miss him a lot...
Roderick had his 7th birthday last week when we were in Scicli. That was very nice for him to have it in such a wonderful place, but a true birthday party with all your friends is naturally the thing to have when you become 7.... Talking about birthday parties. I bought the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album....very good indeed.

Nice to meet up with old colleagues again, the full set can be found here.
The analogue line of photography takes a little longer to develop. Today I got the first processed roll of film back from the shoot in Scicli. It is probably just my imagination, but film does seem to have that little bit of extra oomph... See for yourself here

A terrific Easter in Scicli on Sicily following the Easter Processions there. The raw edit can be found here on Flickr. I will make a 12 to 16 edit summary that should tell the story. If you have recommendations for which pictures to take, please put them as comments with the pictures on Flickr...

Easter is big this year for us. Not only will be going to Sicily next week to see the processions ( and the Etna), but Roderick is preparing for the Easter procession tomorrow in Amsterdam... He has made his stick and today we baked the little rooster to go on top of it...
Today I was elected Chairman of Ipan, the Dutch Interactive professionals association. Together with board members Suzan Fluitman, Gijs Vroom and Vincent Gravesteyn we are planning to create some great hype, goodies, content and excitement for our members. Boris was so kind to moderate the very interesting forecasting meeting tonight, bringing new insights to the market developments... The full set can ben found here on Flickr

John Melskens wanted to shoot with the Leica Noctilux this Saturday. It was a while since I used the 'King of the night' myself, but then I understood quickly again, that this is a very special lens indeed. Difficult, close to impossible, to focus at short distances at F1, but fantastic when succeeding...Some more pictures at this Flickr set...

On March 5 the next Foam fund meeting will take place and I will be interviewed for BNR for my experience so far with the fund. I am very happy being a shareholder. Great people, exhibitions and more. It also has increased my own photographing a lot. Today I bought a 35 mm lens at Foto Nivo- Schweitzer to use in the Eastern procession shooting I will be doing on Sicily...

'Retro is the future' I have mentioned a number of times before. The combination of a Leica MP, the 35mm Summilux and the Kodak Tri-x 400 film make great pictures. Some of the shots of the first roll can be found here

An end to an era. Boudisque the famous record shop in Amsterdam will be closing soon....Music retails seems to be a bad business to be in at the moment. I still remember that I went to Boudisque for the first time when I was 15 years old...There was so much to discover with rare and special music and records. Nowadays all is available online..10% discount does not seem too much to clear everything, the rate will go up soon probably..

Philip Blenkinsop advised me at the end of the workshop in Cambodia to go 'analogue' again . The lack of an instant review window, the limited number of shots given the length of the roll etc force you to be more selective. I shot four rolls so far and it has taken quite some time to get them processed, scanned and uploaded... I also see that I need to be more careful with the negatives, otherwise there might be too many artifacts around...
