A great holiday to Jordan... taking both an M8 and the MP. The latter shots will follow later as those will have to be developed. I also have some issues with some SD cards, anyhow; the first batch of pictures can be found here...

We had our Veronica Christmas party at Castle Engelenburg in Brummen. A great party added by the 'White Christmas' atmosphere created by -9 degrees C.

Meeting up with the start-up scene always gives new insights and inspiration. We will be competing head-on with them at the Bowlr championships in January....

The Christmas play in, which Roderick was supposed to be one of the shepherds, was very nice and the kids did their utmost to bring the story to live.... Roderick decided to opt out as his friend (one of the sheep...) did not show up....

"Retro is the future" - I am moving back forwards... the workshop in Cambodia has been a tremendous inspiration, therefore I am moving back to film again. I got myself an MP and am trying out the first roll...anxious to see what will come out of it....Very different to digital, after the shot there is nothing to look at, but the wheel with the ISO values...

We promised Roderick that he would get a mobile phone when he would be 10. Sinterklaas decided that would be too late....

The big milestone: 100k views on my Flickr account.....

Back home after a couple of fascinating weeks out in Asia! The good news of arriving very early is that you have to stay awake to avoid too much of a jet lag.. with all the bad weather out there, I decided to upload more pictures of Cambodia and Vietnam...

Another very interesting day in Hanoi, visiting many many places including museums, the water puppet show and more before having dinner with our good friends. Only one more day and then it is back to Europe...

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Everybody seems to be eating all the time... on every spot in Vietnam we have been (Hanoi and the way to and from Halong Bay) you see these little eating places, with very small chairs...
The internet connection is very slow, so only the first pictures are at my Flickr account...

A fantastic couple of days of photographing in Vietnam with our Vietnamese friends. Spectacular scenery and people. Highlight Halong Bay...

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Hanoi is a busy busy city with many scooters... Zebra stripes on the road do not seem to have any meaning and you have to carefully cross the road, otherwise someone will hit you...

Tomorrow we go with award winning Vietnamese photographer Do Anh Tuan for two days shooting in the country side and to Halong bay....I am really looking forward to that.

The scenery around the temples around Siem Reap is amazing... Especially from on top of an elephant...

It was very special to see my pictures displayed very large at the Angkor Photo Festival.... hundreds of people coming to see the work of the VII class. Afterwards we discussed each other's work and Philip showed us the opus magnum he is working on....beautiful...

Lots of festivities going on here with the boat races right out of the door of the FCC...

Photo reporters make long days, I can tell now from experience. A project requires lots of research, taking shots, editing, trying to find better shots, creating a story line and more...My project is no exception and has made me do long, long days... I am not complaining though as it is great fun and I learn a lot from it.
Gary and Philip share with us many of their stories, what they were facing and how they solved it....

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

The place I am staying in, is next to the river. The boat races will start in a week and training is in full swing...
Another great day in Cambodia with lots of development in the masterclass....Philip is pushing me to do more with less....Challenging but rewarding indeed...

Monday, November 19, 2007

The masterclass has started yesterday evening with a great dinner near the temples. This morning we went out to explore them, which was truly fascinating. During the dinner yesterday and during the day today, I got to talk a lot to PHILIP BLENKINSOP who will work with me during this week on my project. We all got our projects sorted, I am happily working on mine...

Friday, November 16, 2007

After a long but relatively comfortable journey (especially the food at the Ho Chi Minh Airport being very nice) over Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh to I arrived at final destination Siem Reap for the VIIPhoto Masterclass. Straight from the airport I entered the first of probably many TukTuk rides...

We got the pioneers together in the internet and music industry at two special locations in Amsterdam. We started at Spoiled to move on later to Waldorf. A great and buzzing KINKFM evening with music, food and drinks and lots of great guests.... I think we will do it again ;)

The Veronica young talent day was held in a special location; the El Hema exhibition at Mediamatic, an inspiring session at an inspiring location....

Friday, November 09, 2007

Talking about the music business and radio. I now know why last.fm is radio and not a collection of tracks that you can play like a cd...

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

The Ipan evening was all about women and interactivity/internet, with women MP3reporters from V-radio. A challenging theme that set the discussion on fire....the full set is here

It is getting chilly again and the days are becoming shorter and shorter. Nice opportunity to spend time with friends...

Saturday, November 03, 2007

Strategy weekends should be held in true outdoor environments.....

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

One of my favorite conferences is denhaagtelecom, this year with theme Telecom 2.0. I was one of the keynote speakers and of course as Veronica we made a great show of it. We not only introduced a special KINKFM album/CD with Dr. Black music specialists top hits, also V-radio did a full broadcast. Awesome to see the machine in action...

Buzzing through Amsterdam today to sort things for my upcoming trip to Cambodia and Vietnam.
I am a very happy man, as I will join the masterclass given by GARY KNIGHT and
PHILIP BLENKINSOP....

The Amsterdam marathon is always a terrific experience. Over 20.000 people running... We always go to the Vondelpark and it is fascinating to see that where in the first passing there, the 'field' is still fairly close together, at the second one...hours apart...the full set here.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

I have tried to avoid it, but in the end it is so paradigm shifting... With so many telecom and media events coming up like my speeches at among others Tsoc, denhaagtelecom , highprofile and telecomtime...So yes I do have an iPhone too now.... not migrated to 1.1.1 yet but fully functional...

Thursday, October 18, 2007

The Amsterdam Opencoffee meetup is always an interesting gathering with entrepreneurs, internet and interactive people, VC's and sofort. The new location at Coffee Company is nice too. I'll try to go more often...

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

One of the nice things of being shareholder in the Foam Fund is that I meet interesting photographers, like today Morad Bouchakour. He shoots in a special way using specific cameras, high aperture and using a lot of flash with lots of detail and very sharp images. Virtually the opposite of my shooting style...

Monday, October 15, 2007

Nice meeting up with the Wakoopa guys for dinner. They are making a lot of traction in their development. Of course they work on applications for the iPhone too....

Thursday, October 11, 2007

The developments in new digital media, music and video are still in hyper-growth. Which implies breakthrough developments, devices and new business models. Within Veronica that is exactly the pioneering direction we will be taking. This will als have implications for the telecommunications sector, that is moving towards a Telecom 2.0 status. This will be the topic for The Hague Telecom, the leading telecommunications conference and event yearly in The Hague. I will be presenting some exciting and swinging views on what we see will be happening. If you want to be joining you can do so by registering here, it is a free event, so do not hesitate...

We launched the book "Herinnert u zich deze nog?" ("Do you remember this one?" - a popular question on Veronica when playing a golden oldie) written bij Arjen Snijders about the years 1975-2005 of Veronica. An intriguing history of some wild periods within Veronica full of 'sex, drugs and rock&roll'. Next to looking back we looked forward with the people from our award winning radiostation V-radio doing a live broadcast on the internet. Much more info on the book will follow on Veronica story, our digital archives... (It will be Dutch only). Veronica was, is and will be the rebellious commercial Dutch media company, always pioneering new frontiers... the pictures of today can be found here

Update: apparently having the t-shirt means having the company. The rumours proved to become true quite quickly. So theses are the tips for entrepreneurs: get company t-shirts, get them to those that can acquire your company and make sure that you can get to a fax machine as all transactions always require lots of faxing....
Congratulations to Jyri and all the others in the Jaiku team!

Saturday, October 06, 2007

A couple of very interesting days in Greece attending Stream 2007, the Kinnernet style un-conference sponsored by WPP. Lots of familiar faces (among them alliance friends of PICNIC) and many new took the opportunity to discuss and embrace the latest in marketing, investing, internet and technology. Also a place where rumours about an upcoming transaction relating to Jaiku were around...What people wearing t-shirts can create is unbelievable...
The full picture set can be found here.
I am very happy by the way with the iPod touch. I think many of the people where sporting an iPhone (with most of those hacked...), but I prefer the iPod as it has more memory and is slimmer... on top of that I prefer the Blackberry for mail...

Sunday, September 30, 2007

The pictures that I took of the Fleck guys are published in the Dutch financial newspaper FD, great to see my shots published! I should print them more often, I quite like the feel of it.
Thanks to Caro my shooting style and capabilities have improved a lot since, so who knows what might happen next :)
So Boris prepare for the next shoot out...

Saturday, September 22, 2007

A day around town for the boys is always entertaining, especially with the new wide-angle lens... .
Whereas music is still omnipresent (one of the favourite topics with Chris at Mint-condition-hair in the Wolvenstraat) and growing in importance with the audience, record stores (and therefore record companies) seem to be struggling to get buyers for their goodies...
