Today the latest in the Playstation series has arrived, the PS3. I own the 1, 2 and PSP and it is amazing to see how those have evolved over the years...There are great reviews of the machine all over the internet, but my own personal reviewer makes it a clear... "wowowowow"

A couple of week ago Raimond Wouda made a picture of all the members of the Foam Fund, the fund to support the Foam in Amsterdam. A great group of people making an investment in photography. Last year I did not have time to go there often, but I'll try this year. Yesterday I went to the opening of the impressive photographer James Nachtwey...

No words needed...playing soccer with my little boy and his friends....

Boris is sporting both a nice suit (though not his latest) and his new blackberry... All at the Open Coffee Meet Up every Thursday morning at the Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam. A nice collection of people and a good initiative from Patrick the ultmately driven entrepreneur...

The RAI took a brave decision to cancel Tine this year but on the other hand ensured that events such as Blognomics can still take place!
The room that we will use for Blognomics 07 is one of the nicest ones at the RAI in Amsterdam.
(Of course you only see a 'sneak peek' here as the room is much bigger and of course will look very much different too on May 10!)
If you want to be there, please register here.

Roderick celebrated his birthday with best friend Gabriel. Tons of gifts and lots of friends to plaay with. The full set.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

My little boy Roderick had his 6th birthday today. The hit of the gifts remained the Nintendo DS with the Pokemon games....

Due to a general strike in Israel today we had only few hours to get an alternative route before getting trapped. Luckily Marc Goldberg of Occam Capital made sure that we found a solution flying out of Amman airport in Jordan. It did take though an extensive trip through Israel and Jordan to get there....

Whilst we were in a 'you only see this in a movie ' taxi ride through Jordan, I won the Dutchbloggies award for best photoblog. As I was thousands of kilometers away, Krijn Schuurman, my partner with whom I organise Blognomics, accepted the award for me and I'll hope of course to see it soon in real life :)

Jerusalem is truly a fantastic place full of history. Before the Mishkenot conference we went out to visit both Muslim as Jewish and Catholic holy places. Especially the latter was very special to me, being a Catholic myself. Also was it an interesting view to see people taking Jesus route over the Via Dolorosa.

I have put the photo sets now on line at Kinnernet07, The Marker07 and Mishkenot07.

All in all a fantastic week in Israel with many thanks to many, but most to Yossi Vardi.

David Isenberg took off his shirt at the Marker conference, to show the pivotal elements again 'attention' and 'trust'. Despite being an old t-shirt the values still are very much alive and he got cheers from the crowd.
On the way back Peter Hirschberg the chairman of Technorati showed how anyone can become a media mogul (but maybe not as good as him though...)

Following Kinnernet we went on to the Marker conference in Tel Aviv, a very interesting conference indeed, where not only lots of interesting people presented, but were also interviewed by Cathy Brooks of the Guidewire Group, who will post some of the podcasts at the Guidewire blog.

Another night of extravaganza at Kinnernet, great multimedia, muzic, film and fireworks....

My blog on the OLPC, amazing....

The first evening of Kinnernet is an extravaganza of activities and people, next to seeing most of the blogged about new gadgets and applications in real life, we had some great Argentine meet prepared by my roommate Martin Varsavsky, who had arranged everything for that.... He is being interviewed here by Rupert Schaefer of Burda, of the DLD team. Wonder where this video will show up...

Thursday, March 15, 2007

At the opening dinner we had quite some vividness indeed, whereas Jeff Pulver, after throwing yesterday's party, today was spotted snapping the OLPC...

Arriving at Kinnernet is fantastic, the view over the lake is magnificent....
A true 'wow' factor moment...

A great party at the Tel Aviv harbor in the Whiskey a Go Go was thrown by Jeff Pulver. Lot's of new and familiar faces around. Everybody showing off new mobile applications....

I had imagined running around in short for a couple of days, but things are cold and windy, so luckily I can layer my clothes ;)
The internet in the hotel is slow, so I hope to have more bandwidth later in the camp and then upload more pictures....

I have arrived in Tel Aviv as first stop towards three conference here in Israel, beginning with Kinnernet tomorrow. Traveling to Israel is safe and convenient, but having three phones, a portable gps a digital camera, three iPods and a laptop in my hand luggage only, took me some time to explain...

Of course I will be blogging here, but please follow me also through Bliin, where my activities can be seen directly....starting tomorrow again, because in a minute I am going to Jeff Pulver 's party and the location is not to be disclosed....

The activities for PICNIC '07 have started. Tonight we had an event for partners that want to organise an activity during the event in September or during the buzz events. Over 100 partners showed up at Felix Merites. The full set.

The best locations have to be spotted and tagged, especially when good company and good food mix. The full set.

Roderick was very impressed (and so was I by the way) by the little book Eckart Wintzen sent me today. I might be an indication for his upcoming biography...

Unfortunately the interest in the book soon disappeared when we set out to get Roderick a Nintendo DS with Pokemon games, something we promised him for his birthday on March 21. As he is quite competitive he took the opportunity to get the DS already out 'to familiarize' himself.... Of course the little machine has not left his hands all day.....

Dutch photo reporter Caro Bonink, whom I met yesterday, said that men mostly took about having the latest technology and hardware and women about what they shoot. Maybe it is changing in the young generations, as content seems to be king to Roderick who prefers the Nintendo with Pokemon above his psp....Content king in the end?

Interesting to see some of the same people as yesterday, at a completely different setting today, namely at the shareholders meeting of the Foam Fund, the fund to support the photography museum here in Amsterdam.
Being one of the original shareholders brought me some great dividend today in a nice meeting and a beautiful limited edition picture of new talents WassinkLundgren. In all, a great evening...

At IPAN we had a great evening on the first internet Gold Rush, Web 1.0. A large audience followed the stories of heroes of the first wave such as Eric Bartels, Maurice de Hond, Christiaan Alberdink Thym and Oscar Kneppers. Herbert Blankesteijn and Ronnie Overgoor went through the wild times again.....The full set of pictures can be found here
The other great thing is that thanks to fellow board member Vincent we now have the original IPAN stickers!

Visiting his friends Duarte and Giullia is always a big treat for Roderick. Playing for hours on end, difficult to take him home again....

Saturday, March 03, 2007

Returning home on a Friday is actually quite handy. Normally we use the Sunday as a normal 'Saturday' shopping and arranging day, but as we are of visiting family and friends tomorrow, the normal Saturday came in at the right moment. Roderick was keen sporting his new Belstaff motor jacket when we went out to get him new shoes and a hair cut at Chris' new place at Spoiled in de Wolvenstraat....

A great week in Sorento and around the Amalfi coast in Italy. Many highlights, but the ueber highlight was the trip to the Vesuvio, the volcano mountain... Roderick must be destined to become a mountaineer....
What a beautiful area, we will definitely be back!
The full set of our Italian adventures can be found here
