A weekend of freedom at the terrific festival into the great wide open on Vlieland. Every element from the journey to the island, the music, art, food, friends, people is terrific. It takes a while to get your film rolls developed, but then the happy moment comes: seeing the pictures I took with my trusted Leica MP and 35 Summicron. Just returned from an amazing holiday to Java and Bali. A complete different part of the world and yet still very recognizable given the partly joint history and lots of Indonesian influences in Dutch society. I love the art and craft skills Indonesians posses in creating beautiful materials and products. The full snapshot set from the V-Lux20 can be found here. I took my trusted MP and some containers of Porta VC400 and TX400 but those pictures will take some more time to be seen as those need to be developed... I am very curious how those will appear in the end...

There is a good infrastructure for crossing the water in Amsterdam. Getting around by free ferries is an amazing service.

Documentaries are one of my favorite video productions. Today I went to the premiere at the Amsterdam historical museum of the documentary of 25 years Rode Draad, the 'union' for prostitutes in The Netherlands. Made and directed by former 'working girl' Metje Blaak we got an interesting insight what has happened since its inception. The full set is here.

Returned from South Africa and a very inspiring and confronting study tour SPSA2010 on the impact of society, sport and media on each other. Too many highlights, but 'common ground' as overwhelming theme stands out: even in very hostile and difficult circumstances a common ground can be found and an joint future build. Next to all the good news from football, nice weather, biking and business, there was also very sad news. Roy Avni, DJ at KinkFM and the man behind Electronation, passed away yesterday. We wish his friends, family, colleagues and listeners all the strength they need in these difficult days...

Call me a sucker for craft work and technology. Last Friday the people at Vanmoof convinced me to take up biking again.... Running through town on the new bike I bumped into Jaap den Dulk, who was celebrating the football victory...
