Leading creatives and entrepreneurs headline newly-created Cross Media Week event in Amsterdam in September
Speakers of Pixar, Endemol, Talpa, craigslist, Second Life and MySpace headline PICNIC ‘06
June 15, 2006 – Amsterdam -- The Cross Media Week Foundation today announced the program and speaker line-up for Cross Media Week, officially known as PICNIC ’06. PICNIC ’06 is Amsterdam’s new annual event focused on creativity in cross media content and technology, specifically in the fields of entertainment and communication.
PICNIC ’06 will take place from September 26 – 30 at the Westergasfabriek, a cultural facility located in a former gas factory.
The PICNIC ’06 program will showcase content delivered via TV, the Internet, mobile phones, gaming, virtual reality and music services. Delegates will discuss major trends related to media, art and science, see innovative content, formats and channels, and develop new opportunities. Sessions will include networking picnics, interactive plenary discussions, content showcases, demos and a wide variety of workshops.

The new herring was late this year, it took a fortnight longer for the herrings to get to the right weight. Therefore the haringparty at the Amsterdam Hilton was postphoned too. Luckily for me, because on the original date, I could not have made it. Lots of glamour and haute couture mixed with....indeed herring.....

A late posting... A picture still on the 'digital' film... Last Friday I attended the opening of the World Championship football on HDTV at the NOS in Hilversum. A great happening with high quality pictures and I won a series of books on the Dutch soccer team. Nice to see part of the impact of last years trip to Japan, which was exactly one year ago this week.....

In The Netherlands several organisations have beautiful material of in moving and still pictures of our country and population. More or less the period from 6 to 16 milion inhabitants is documented and archived. Much of the older material still has to be digitised so that it will not be lost for the future.....
